Make a waste transfer note

Fill in a waste transfer note online and download it as a PDF on the Environment Agency's own form, ready to print and sign. Free, no account needed, and nothing is saved.

A. The waste

Up to three, separated by commas. Find yours with the EWC code finder.

Say what it is and how it was produced. 'General waste' isn't enough.

B. Who's handing the waste over (the transferor)

Business address

Your business activity code, as registered at Companies House.

Are you:

C. Who's taking the waste (the transferee)

Business address

Check it on the register before you hand the waste over.

Check a permit if they run the receiving site.

D. The transfer

Where the waste is handed over

A broker or dealer arranged this (optional)

Nothing you type here is saved: the note is made and sent straight back to you. Print it, then both of you sign it when the waste changes hands.

What this makes

A waste transfer note on the Environment Agency's own form (WMC2A), filled in with what you enter, ready to print and sign. In England and Wales a note must go with every transfer of non-hazardous waste, and both of you keep a copy for two years. Our guide to waste transfer notes explains what must be on one.

In Scotland and Northern Ireland the same information is needed, under their own codes of practice: the guide covers what differs. Hazardous waste needs a consignment note instead.

How Tippa helps

Tippa makes the transfer note for you from every receipt, already filled in with the waste, the carrier and your site, and keeps it with the record, its photos and signatures.

  • Pre-filled transfer notes and receipt PDFs, free.
  • Every carrier's registration checked on the public registers as you record.
  • Fill a receipt in from a transfer or consignment note someone gives you. Note Uploads add-on
