For consultants and partners

If you advise waste businesses, supply them or represent them, this page is for you. It says who Tippa is for, what it does for them, what's different about it, what it doesn't do yet, and how to try it yourself. You don't need a meeting, a demo or a contract to look at it.

Who Tippa is for

Tippa is waste tracking and duty of care software for UK waste businesses, in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland:

It runs in the web browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and suits a one-person carrier as well as a business with several sites and a fleet.

What it does for them

Each load is recorded once, and the rest is filled in from it.

  • Reporting to Defra. Each load a site receives is sent to Defra's Digital Waste Tracking service from the record, with no spreadsheet to fill in and upload.
  • Duty of care paperwork. Transfer notes and season tickets filled in from the load, signed on a phone and kept with it.
  • Checks on the public registers. A carrier's or broker's registration and a site's environmental permit, checked on all four UK nations' registers.
  • Returns to the regulators. Waste returns to the EA, NRW, SEPA and DAERA, hazardous waste consignee returns, and consignment notes on each nation's form.
  • Running the work. Collections, drivers' rounds, skips on hire and invoicing, for the businesses that want them.

All features lists everything, each marked free or with the add-on it's in.

What's different about it

  • Reporting to Defra is free for every load, with no cap, on every plan. Tippa is on GOV.UK's list of compatible software providers, and publishes its own results in Defra's test scenarios, with the gaps it knows of.
  • All four UK nations, not only England: each nation's registers, returns and consignment note.
  • Made for the yard and the cab. It works with no signal, and sends what was recorded when it's back in range.
  • Free to start, with the prices published. The core tools are free. Add-ons cost £5 to £25 + VAT a month each, and each starts with a free month, with no card needed. There's no contract, and a plan can be cancelled any time. The prices are on the home page.
  • Open about how it works. Security and your data says where records are kept and who can see them, What's new lists every feature with the date it was added, and our comparisons say where Tippa isn't strong as well as where it is.

How to look at it yourself

  1. Try the free tools, with no sign-up: check a carrier, check a permit, find an EWC code or make a transfer note.
  2. Watch a setup video. Getting started has one for each kind of business, each from signing up to a first record in under four minutes.
  3. Sign up free and set up a made-up business: record a load, make its transfer note and run the checks. There's no time limit and no card. Try an add-on for its free month to see the paid parts. Sending loads to Defra needs a real business's own Defra registration, so see that part with a client, or on the Defra test results page.
  4. Ask us anything, before or after: send us a message. A person reads every one and replies by email.

What it doesn't do yet

  • One login, one organisation. There's no view across several clients yet. To work in a client's account, they invite you as one of their users, with an email address you don't use for another organisation on Tippa.
  • No security certification such as Cyber Essentials yet. Security and your data says what we do instead.
  • It isn't advice. Tippa keeps the records and fills in the forms, but it doesn't tell a business what its permit allows or whether it's compliant. That's for the business, and for the people who advise it.

Working together

We don't have a formal partner programme yet: no referral fees, discounts or accreditation. We'd rather shape one with the first people who'd use it than publish terms nobody has asked for. We'd like to hear from you about:

  • introducing Tippa to clients or members it suits, and telling us where it doesn't suit them;
  • where the regulatory detail is wrong or missing: you see far more sites than we do;
  • connecting Tippa to the systems or equipment you supply;
  • guides, talks or events for your clients or members.

Send us a message with "Partnership" chosen, or email sales@tip-pa.co.uk.
